I do believe in Fairies, I DO!

You just think happy thoughts! And they LIFT you into the air!"--Peter Pan

Show Notes:
2.5 hour run time is about 0.5 too long for a 5 year old.
Mechanical crocodile: not that scary
Captain Hook:  scary
3D special effects for flying scene - so cool. Ben said it looked "just like the real world"
Characters say 'stupid' a lot in Peter Pan
Also a lot of talk about death, stabbing, killing, cutting, and bleeding.  yikes!
Tinkerbell is wayyyy cooler and spunkier than that version Disney tries to pass off
$4 foam sword purchased in lobby - worth every penny

Having forgotten my camera at home, here are the very limited iPhone highlights...

how can a pig be so cute?

Big morning out at the movies this weekend.  Olivia holiday special...

popcorn and chocolate milk for lunch!

I love how this pig thinks.  If only I didn't have to sleep!
They say "Good night, Olivia, your big day is through".
But how can I sleep, there is still so much to do?
It looks like I'm tucked in tight snug in my bed,
But tomorrow is chasing today through my head.
Will I climb the highest mountaintop,
Or will I paint my masterpiece?
Go ride a bronco in the rodeo
Or wow the crowd on my trapeze?
Princess, doctor, author, astronaut,
From jungles dark to oceans deep.
I'll do anything go anywhere
Just don't ask me to go to sleeeeeeep...

Do I sense a pattern here?

Pattern and repetition is one of the basic elements of composition.  Lucky for photographers, patterns are everywhere.  Up. Down. All around.   Repetitive patterns in photography create a certain movement that the eyes enjoy following.  Patterns alone are a bit ho-hum.  The trick is to find a cool subject and use pattern to complement the subject in a unique way.

Here are some patterns I found in town today...

feverish friday

Ben's under the weather.  He doesn't get sick very often, so it feels weird and pretty un-fun.  A teaspoon and a half of Motrin kept the fever at bay long enough to allow a walk to the library for some new books and a movie.  After that it was couch, couch, and a little more couch.

Lillian more than made up for Ben's energy and appetite today.  She is such a happy and silly little girl;  destined, I'm afraid, to be a bit of a class clown.  Always jumping around, being goofy and saying the darndest things.  She eats enough to satisfy a small adult and never seems full.  Tries everything and likes even the spicy stuff.  She's apparently potty training now, too.  It was so completely not my intention to start this early but it just sort of happened last week.  So here we go with cute little girl undies, a few accidents, and lots of "beans" ( jelly beans )!!!
