second shoot

This morning I had the pleasure of shooting a lovely family who is expecting a baby girl in just two short weeks.  I could get used to this maternity shoot thing....  How fun to capture these moments before a new life enters a family.

This is one of my faves so far....
ISO 800 f/3.5, 1/200, 28mm

At this shoot I learned: not to be afraid to pose my models and rearrange all of their furniture so I can create the shot I see in my head.

I still desperately need to figure out what to do with sunlight streaming in through the windows.  Put subjects right in the light?  To side of light? across the room from the light? Meter for the light, meter for the subject .. ahh all still a guessing game for me..

40 weeks...

I am so excited to report that I had my first REAL photography shoot today. Meaning that it was a complete stranger, not a friend, and it was simply the most fun I've had in a long time.

I had the pleasure of photographing a lovely woman who is due TODAY with her 2nd baby.  A photographer friend told me that every shoot is worthwhile because I'll learn something every time.  Boy was she right.  First of all, I left my camera in ISO 800 the whole time.  I have no idea what I was thinking.  Well, I was nervous... so there's that.  We were inside and it was overcast today so maybe nothing would have come out at a lower ISO, but I should have at least tried it!

And there are so many other little things that are specific to certain shots that I said oh man I wish I had done this or that.... I guess that's what it's all about though. learning as I go.

Just one shot for now, until I get the approval to post more....
